4K UHD and the colour rendering on golf course visuals is genuinely good. I built this into a sim setup and the image quality at 100 inches is better than I expected from a projector at this price.

Pete A. · ✓ Verified buyer · October 2025

Good dual-purpose projector. I use it for the sim and for watching sport. The 4K is noticeable on course environments and on live broadcast — the grass looks like grass, not a blur of green.

Quinn B. · ✓ Verified buyer · January 2026

BenQ build quality is why I went with this over a cheaper alternative. Four months of daily use, mix of sim golf and films. The image quality has not drifted and the fan is quiet enough to use without any audio workaround.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this projector for a golf simulator? +
Yes. BenQ projectors connect via HDMI to any sim PC running E6, GSPro, TGC 2019, or Creative Golf. Short-throw models are ideal for sim bays — they minimise shadow interference and keep the arm compact.
What resolution do I need for a golf simulator? +
1080p Full HD is the standard — most sim software runs natively at 1920×1080. 4K UHD is noticeably sharper if your PC can handle it. WXGA (1280×800) is the entry-level option and still looks great on a 2.5–3m screen at short throw distances.
How far does the projector need to be from the screen? +
Short-throw models (ST in the name) typically need 0.8–1.5m to produce a 2.5–3m wide image. Ultra short-throw (UST) can sit as close as 0.3–0.5m. Standard throw needs 2–4m. Check the throw ratio in the specs to calculate your exact distance.
Is laser better than LED for a golf simulator? +
Both are excellent — no bulb to replace, 20,000+ hour lifespan, instant-on. Laser typically delivers higher brightness and better colour in rooms that aren't fully blacked out. LED tends to be more compact and energy-efficient. Either works well for most setups.
How many lumens do I need? +
Dark dedicated sim room: 2,500–3,500 lumens is plenty. Room with ambient light: 4,000+ lumens. Commercial venues that can't be blacked out: 5,000+ lumens. Higher lumens also allow a larger screen without losing image brightness.
What's in the warranty? +
All BenQ projectors include a 3-Year Limited Warranty covering manufacturing defects and hardware failure under normal use. BenQ's US support team handles claims directly.
Do I need a special screen or will a white wall work? +
A white wall works for movies or gaming. For golf simulation you need an impact screen — the ball physically strikes it and it's built to absorb hits without damage. We stock a range of screens to suit every enclosure size.
