What is dvLED and how is it different from a projector? +
dvLED (Direct View LED) displays use self-emissive LED pixels — there's no projector, no lamp, and no screen. The image is generated directly on the panel surface, producing deep blacks, vivid colour, and consistent brightness regardless of ambient light. Unlike a projector, there's no throw distance required and no risk of ball impact damaging a lamp unit.
Does it require professional installation? +
Yes — we strongly recommend professional installation for all dvLED displays. The FHDC163 ships as an assembled all-in-one cabinet but still requires correct wall mounting, cabling, and calibration. SimGolfer can arrange installation — call us for a quote.
Can it be used as a golf simulator impact screen? +
The FHDC163 uses Flip-Chip COB technology which is more durable than standard LED panels, but it is not an impact-rated screen. For simulator bays where ball strikes are possible, physical protection (netting or a baffle system) should be positioned in front of the display. We can advise on setup configurations — call us.
What's included in the 3-year warranty? +
The 3-year on-site warranty covers parts and labour at your location — you don't need to ship the unit anywhere. Optoma sends a certified technician to diagnose and repair on-site. 12 spare tiles are also included in the box for minor field repairs.
