The space needed for a massage chair is not just the width of the chair. You also need to think about recline movement, access around the chair, the outlet position and how the product will reach the room.
Measure the final position first
Measure the width and depth available where the chair will actually sit. Leave enough room to use the controls and enter or exit the chair comfortably.
Do not confuse package dimensions with operating dimensions
Package dimensions describe the shipping carton, not necessarily the final footprint. For example, the FlexiZen V10 currently lists package dimensions of 132 × 75 × 114 cm. That is useful for delivery planning, but it should not be treated as the final operating footprint unless the manufacturer confirms it.
Allow for recline movement
Some chairs recline significantly. If a manufacturer publishes wall-clearance guidance, use that figure. Where no clearance figure is published, do not assume the chair can sit directly against a wall.
Measure the route into the room
Check the narrowest doorway, hallway width, corners, stairs, lift dimensions and any changes in floor level. A chair that fits the room can still be difficult to deliver if the access route is tighter than the final space.
Consider weight as well as size
Massage chairs can be heavy. The FlexiZen V10 is listed at 80 kg, while the OmniSense is listed at 150 kg gross packaged weight. Weight affects handling and can be especially important for stairs or upper-floor rooms.
Plan the outlet position
Check the exact electrical requirement for the chair you are considering and make sure the outlet is practical for the final position. Avoid planning the room around an extension lead or a cable crossing a walkway.
Think about future access
Leave a practical route around the chair for cleaning, servicing and eventual removal. A chair that is tightly boxed into a room may be harder to maintain later.
