MACY-PAN Hyperbaric Chambers Compared: Models, Sizes and Layouts

MACY-PAN MC4000 U upright chamber exterior

Choosing a MACY-PAN hyperbaric chamber starts with its layout: lying, seated, wheelchair access or a rigid lying enclosure. Model names alone do not tell you how much room the complete system needs or what equipment comes with the selected pressure configuration.

This guide compares the MACY-PAN configurations reviewed by SimWellness. It focuses on dimensions, access and supplied equipment. It is a buying comparison, not a treatment recommendation or an independent performance review.

MACY-PAN models at a glance

Model Enclosure layout Quoted chamber size Quoted pressure options
ST701 / ST702 Soft-shell lying 225 × 70 × 70 cm 1.3 / 1.5 ATA
ST801 Soft-shell lying 225 × 80 × 80 cm 1.3 / 1.5 ATA
ST901 Soft-shell lying 225 × 90 × 90 cm 1.3 / 1.5 ATA
ST1700 Soft-shell sitting 170 × 70 × 110 cm 1.3 / 1.5 ATA
ST2200 Extended soft-shell sitting 220 × 70 × 110 cm 1.3 / 1.5 ATA
L1 Upright soft-shell sitting Final dimensions require confirmation 1.3 / 1.5 ATA
MC4000 U Soft-shell double sitting 140 × 130 × 175 cm 1.3 / 1.4 ATA
MC4000 N Soft-shell wheelchair access 140 × 130 × 175 cm 1.3 / 1.4 ATA
HP2202 Hard-shell lying 220 cm long; 75, 85 or 90 cm diameter 2.0 ATA

Dimensions and configurations above follow the supplier’s October 2026 quotation. They describe the enclosure, not a complete installed footprint. The ST701/ST702 quotation combines two model names; the order should identify the exact model and pressure package. Published L1 dimensions differ between supplier materials, so it should not be selected from an assumed footprint.

ST701 / ST702 vs ST801 vs ST901: compare width first

These three lying formats share a quoted 225 cm length. Their quoted width and height increase from 70 cm to 80 cm to 90 cm. That makes enclosure space a useful first comparison, particularly if you are deciding how much surrounding room to reserve.

A larger diameter does not by itself establish easier entry, a particular user capacity or a better outcome. Look at the opening, internal layout and equipment position as well as the outside measurements. Ask for current photographs and the manual for the configuration being supplied.

The quoted 1.3 ATA packages use a 5 L/min oxygen concentrator; the 1.5 ATA packages use a 10 L/min unit. Treat them as different equipment configurations rather than assuming a pressure setting changes the complete package.

ST1700 vs ST2200: a shorter or longer sitting format

The ST1700 and ST2200 use a lower seated enclosure shape than the taller L1 and MC4000 formats. Their quoted width and height are both 70 × 110 cm; the ST2200 adds 50 cm of length.

Choose between them by checking the intended seated position and the space around the entrance. The outside length is useful for planning, but does not give you an internal seat measurement or clearance for assisting someone at the opening.

L1 vs MC4000: upright layout and entry

The L1 offers an upright sitting format. The MC4000 U is the double-sitting configuration; the MC4000 N is the wheelchair-access configuration. The two MC4000 versions share quoted overall dimensions, but their entry arrangements and interior layouts differ.

For wheelchair access, compare the opening and usable interior with the actual chair. Overall chamber dimensions cannot establish that a particular wheelchair will pass through the entrance or turn into the intended position. Include ramp space, assistance and the route into the room in that review.

When to compare the HP2202

The HP2202 is the rigid lying format in this comparison. Its quoted configurations operate at 2.0 ATA and offer three diameters. It should be compared as a different equipment package, with different transport and room-access considerations, rather than simply as a larger soft-shell chamber.

Check packed dimensions and the delivery route before choosing a hard-shell unit. The product photograph for one diameter should not be assumed to represent every size. For the broader construction differences, read our soft-shell versus hard-shell chamber guide.

What comes with the system?

The reviewed soft-shell quotation includes the chamber, oxygen concentrator, air compressor, air cooler and system accessories. MC4000 U/N configurations use a quoted 10 L/min concentrator. The HP2202 quotation includes the chamber, a system machine with a 10 L/min concentrator and compressor, an air conditioner and accessories.

Ask for an itemized equipment list, electrical requirements and model-specific manual. “Complete system” does not describe room preparation, unloading or installation responsibilities.

A practical shortlist

  • For a lying soft-shell layout, compare ST701/ST702, ST801 and ST901 by enclosure width and entrance arrangement.
  • For a lower sitting layout, compare ST1700 and ST2200 by length and usable seated space.
  • For an upright layout, compare L1 with the relevant MC4000 version.
  • For wheelchair entry, assess MC4000 N against the actual chair and access route.
  • For a rigid lying unit, review HP2202 size, delivery access and the complete equipment package.

Pressure alone does not establish suitability for an individual or intended use. Model-specific documentation and applicable requirements need separate review.
