The TrackMan iO stays above the hitting area. Its product specification states that it has no minimum distance requirement, so it is the natural choice for many garages, basements and spare rooms.
The TrackMan 4 sits behind the golfer and needs enough room for the unit, the ball and the screen. If you are planning an indoor setup for it, check your full room depth before ordering. That space is the biggest practical difference between the two systems.
What changes in day-to-day use?
With iO, the monitor is installed once and stays out of the way. It is designed for indoor golf and measures shots with radar, infrared and dual high-speed cameras, without ball stickers or special lighting.
With TrackMan 4, you can take the same dual-radar unit from your simulator to the driving range. Its live product specification covers ball, club and putting data in indoor or outdoor conditions.
